Pandora is making a few changes to its premium streaming music service -- most notably a fee hike for new monthly subscribers.
The company announced Tuesday that because of rising royalty rates it pays to musicians, it's having to up its monthly fee for the first time since Pandora One debuted in 2009. Starting in May, new members will have to pay $4.99 per month rather than the current rate of $3.99 per month.
Lyft has launched "Happy Hour" rates -- fares that are 10 percent to 50 percent cheaper than normal during slow business hours -- to encourage more rides during those periods, the company announced Tuesday.
Slow times are typically midday and after rush hour during the work week.
"With Happy Hour, Lyft's prices are fully dynamic, which is the way it should be," the company said in a post on its Web site.

Amazon's Prime premium service just got a little more expensive.
For the first time, the online retailing giant will raise the membership fee for Prime, hiking it by $20 to $99 a year. Amazon Student Prime will rise $10 to $49 a year. Prime members will pay the higher fee when their accounts come up for renewal.
The critical cut-off date is April 17. If your renewal comes up before then, you'll still pay the original $79 fee. If comes up on April 17 or after, you're stuck with the higher fee.

Uber's surge pricing has proven to be a sure-fire way to get users up in arms. But, it appears the ride-sharing company is working to placate that anger.
The company's CEO Travis Kalanick announced Monday that Uber is planning to send app push notifications to users when surge pricing subsides -- that way, users will know when fares have returned to normal rates, according to GeekWire.
"One of our goals for 2014 is bringing humanity to our communications," Kalanick said at the Launch Festival on Monday, according to GeekWire.

Verizon Wireless is finally getting its hands dirty in this price war.
The company on Thursday officially introduced "More Everything," a plan that promises more data, 25GB of cloud storage, and unlimited international messaging.
