Revealer Keylogger Free review

Revealer Keylogger Free is a competent if unremarkable keylogger for Windows. It can run at startup, hide itself from users, and protect access with a password. But basic features such as screenshots and email notifications aren't available in the free version, and the program doesn't log IP addresses.

Free keylogger: Despite the freeware version's limits, Revealer Keylogger Free's active features are fully functional. It only records keystrokes and the programs they're entered in, such as IE, Chrome, or Word, but it does a good job of that.

Easy to use: A virtue of Revealer … Read more

Argos Monitoring review

Argos Monitoring is a program designed to track all activity on your computer, so you can see exactly what everyone using the machine is doing. The program operates in complete stealth mode, and there's no way to access the control panel without the master password.

Totally hidden: This program operates completely hidden from anyone who doesn't know it's there. There is no record of it in any index another user could access, and the only way the control panel shows up is if you type in your master password and press "Enter." You can … Read more

Fitbit Force users report roughly 10,000 cases of skin irritation

Some side effects can come with activity monitoring with a Fitbit Force health tracker, but they're not sore muscles or an accelerated heart rate -- rather, they involve skin irritation around the wrist.

More than 10,000 people have reported skin irritation -- including redness, rashes, itchy and dry patches, and blistering -- from their Fitbit Force, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Because of these issues, the CPSC posted Fitbit's official recall notice on its site on Wednesday. Now, all Force owners can get a full refund for their device.

The $129 Force, which is … Read more

Acer 27-inch monitor offers extreme resolution for a moderate price

Though its name reads more like a cryptic Captcha password than a monitor display, the Acer K272HUL is a high-resolution 27-inch monitor with a budget-friendly price. Starting at $449, the Acer display boasts a 2,560x1,440-pixel-resolution WQHD display, also known as extreme definition.

It has purported 178-degree viewing angles and 16.7 million colors, with a 6ms response time. The Acer monitor houses dual built-in speakers and connectivity options are limited to DVI and DisplayPort, as well as two HDMI ports. The VESA wall-mountable K272HUL also comes with Acer ComfyView, which lowers reflection and glare.

Promising to make advanced home security easier and more accessible, Swann Security is introducing SwannSecure, a new wireless IP camera kit due in retail outlets this April.

The SwannSecure kit is the latest offering to fall in line with that initiative, consisting of an indoor/outdoor, Wi-Fi ready camera that you'll be able to … Read more

Getting better all the time: M-Audio BX5 Carbon speakers

I'm a big fan of M-Audio's desktop monitor speakers. Their build and sound quality standards, even for their near entry-level models, are exceptional. The new BX5 Carbon retails for $149.99 each.

The vinyl-wrapped, medium-density fiberboard speaker measures 10x7x8 inches. Around back there's a large bass port, so don't plan on placing this guy up against a wall. Each 11-pound speaker has two built-in amplifiers: a 40-watt unit for the 5-inch woven Kevlar woofer and a 30-watt for the 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Rather than use the more common Class D amps, M-audio engineers opted for … Read more

Apple loses bid to yank court-appointed antitrust monitor

It's no secret that Apple has been unhappy with the court-appointed antitrust monitor watching over its shoulder -- but, it appears the company is going to have to get used to it for the time being.

The US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit denied Apple's motion on Monday to put the court-appointed monitor's duties on hold while it seeks a more expansive appeal to remove him completely. In other words, monitor Michael Bromwich may continue to keep tabs on Apple's antitrust compliance policies for e-books.

"We are pleased with the court's decision,&… Read more

Research makes case for home blood pressure monitoring

Think you've got normal blood pressure because the readings are always good at the doc's? Think again. As many as one in seven of us have what is called "masked hypertension" -- meaning we have healthy blood pressure readings in the comfort of our doctors' offices, but elevated blood pressure at work or home.

New research of more than 5,000 people spanning four countries finds that not only do people with this kind of hidden hypertension have a greater risk of heart attacks and strokes, but that home blood pressure monitoring often helps identify this phenomenon.… Read more

DOJ: Court didn't abuse power by appointing Apple monitor

The US Department of Justice on Friday argued that a US court didn't abuse its power by naming an external monitor to oversee Apple's compliance with antitrust law and that an appeals court should deny Apple's motions to get rid of the monitor.

A federal appeals court on Tuesday had granted Apple's motion to hold off on having an external monitor to make sure it complies with antitrust laws, saying it would give Apple a reprieve until a panel can examine the issue.

The government, in an opposition filing Friday, said the court acted within its … Read more
