Microsoft now selling Power Keyboard for Lumia 2520 tablet

Owners of Nokia's Lumia 2520 tablet who missed out on the free Power Keyboard can now buy one through Microsoft.

Packing in a case, keyboard, two USB ports, and a 50 percent boost to battery life, the Power Keyboard was dangled by Nokia as a free accessory to those who preordered the 2520 late last year. AT&T has been selling the keyboard, and now Microsoft has added the $149 device to its lineup.

The Power Keyboard sold by Microsoft supports only the Lumia 2520 through AT&T, which means Verizon customers are out of luck. The … Read more

Verizon's exclusive Nokia Lumia Icon a Windows Phone win (review)

Good things may come to those who wait, but they also come to large, powerful carriers with tremendous bargaining power. Such is the case with the Nokia Lumia Icon (also known as the 929), a 5-inch, quad-core smartphone with a 20-megapixel shooter and a soberer look and feel that Verizon can claim as its very own. The addition of the $200 Icon to Big Red's roster -- it goes on sale February 20 with a new, two-year service agreement -- marks a much-needed refresh to Verizon's Windows Phone lineup.

Staunch Nokia supporter AT&T still claims the … Read more

Aio Wireless shows Moto G, Lumia 520, ZTE Sonata some love

Prepaid carrier Aio Wireless becomes three smartphones stronger this February 14. That's when the AT&T-owned wireless provider adds a trio of new smartphones to its lineup -- the Motorola Moto G, Nokia Lumia 520, and ZTE Sonata 4G.

We've spent a long time with Nokia's Lumia 521 for T-Mobile and 520 for AT&T, and Motorola's budget Moto G is already marching across the major carriers. The ZTE Sonata 4G -- which we saw at CES -- is the only one of the new Valentine's Day handsets that's exclusive to Aio. … Read more

Nokia has a new Lumia handset in the works and its name is Icon, if Verizon's latest leaks are to be believed.

Before Verizon had the chance to remove the page, though, Twitter users and tech blog GigaOm were able to get a snapshot of its features, including a 5-inch display, a 20-megapixel PureView rear-facing camera, and 32GB of storage. The device will also feature a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, according to the spec sheet.

Wispy designs from Microsoft partners breeze past Apple

commentary Psst...Microsoft laptop partners are ahead of Apple on critical design metrics like weight.

So, how will that play out in 2014? A snapshot of today's lightest, edgiest designs should give us an idea (I'll put aside a discussion of competing operating systems and pricing for this post).

Weight: Like tablets, generally the thinner and lighter the laptop, the better. That's what the popular MacBook Air is all about and the reason the ultrabook was developed -- Wintel's (Microsoft-Intel's) response to the Air.

Enter the carbon fiber-based Sony Vaio Pro 11 and 13, which … Read more
