iOS 7.0.6 hits 13.3 percent adoption rate in North America

Apple's iOS 7.0.6 had captured more than 13 percent of all North American iOS traffic on the Chitika ad network just two days after its debut.

Releasing its findings on Wednesday, Chitika noted that the latest version of iOS accounted for 14.5 percent of ad impressions on the iPhone and 12.3 percent on the iPad, resulting in an average of around 13.3 percent.

Though the initial two-day adoption rate of iOS 7.0.6 failed to match the results for iOS 7, Chitika believes the majority of iOS users could be running the latest … Read more

Android beats surging iOS again on mobile ad network

Android remains top dog among all mobile platforms as seen by mobile ad network Millennial Media.

For the second quarter of 2013, Android snared 51 percent of all ad impressions on the network, according to the latest Millennial Media Mobile Mix report released Friday. That number was up from the 46 percent seen in the second quarter of 2012 and down just one percentage point from this year's first quarter.

iOS remained firmly in second place. But it showed a healthy gain in ad impressions, rising to 42 percent last quarter from 34 percent in the same period last … Read more

Samsung snags almost half of Android traffic in U.S., Canada

Samsung's dominance in the Android world is borne out by a new report from Chitika.

Among all Android smartphone and tablet vendors in the U.S. and Canada, Samsung scored 47.2 percent of all online traffic seen by the advertising and Web analytics firm. The percentage is based on the number of ad impressions recorded by Chitika from June 17 to 23 of this year.

Samung's savvy at marketing new products may have led to its surge, according to Chitika. But 25 percent of the Web traffic actually came from older devices, such as the Galaxy Ace. … Read more

Here's what Batman: Arkham City on Wii U plays like

LOS ANGELES--Two Wii U games stole the show at the Nintendo press conference on Tuesday, Ubisoft's ZombiU and Warner Bros. Interactive's Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition. I was able to sneak in some time with the latter on Wednesday and found out what exactly "Armored Edition" means.

To be clear, the Wii U version of Arkham City is mostly the same game you've played on the other consoles. Sure, all the DLC available up until now is packed in, but those looking for a separate experience different than Rocksteady's epic won't find it. … Read more

One of 20 iPads on the Web may be a 'new iPad'

The new iPad is already making an impression on the Web, at least according to ad network Chitika.

Monitoring ad impressions triggered by all the iPads seen on its network, Chitika found that the new iPad is scooping up a hefty five percent. The company's real-time tracker page provides an ongoing glimpse into how many new iPads are popping up on its network, which typically sees hundreds of millions of impressions per week among all mobile devices.

The data specifically looks at the percentage of iPad impressions over the past 12 hours based just in the United States. Chitika … Read more

Will Leader's $179 Android tablet live up to its name?

LAS VEGAS--Leader International is hoping that a pair of new Android tablets could change the fact that the company isn't exactly, well...a leader when it comes to slates.

The California-based company debuted its new "Impression" tablets Monday night at the Pepcom Digital Experience--an independent event that runs parallel with kickoff eve of CES. I got my hands on both the 9.7-inch and 7-inch tablet models, and they seemed snappy enough, especially for the price--$299 for the bigger model and a mere $179 for the 7-incher.

You might notice that the price point on that … Read more

Sony brought the Vita to New York last week for a final tour before the new year. We're hearing it will make an appearance at CES as well, but we were excited to get some more hands-on time with the machine before next month's massive show.

Can the Vita succeed in 2012? First, let's recap what we already know:… Read more

Windows 8 activity sinking among early adopters, claims study

Windows 8 activity among developers and other early adopters has fallen over the past three months, says a new study from ad network Chitika.

Looking at ad impressions for the Windows 8 Developer Preview on its own network earlier this month, Chitka found that they were measurably lower than ones seen in September.

Specifically, the new data compared impressions during the week of December 4 with those found toward the end of September, shortly after Microsoft launched the Developer Preview to the public. The stats released on September 26 showed a healthy jump in online activity in just a one-week … Read more
