The thinnest and lightest small tablets

In the beginning, tablets looked more like the televisions that strap onto the back of a car's seat more than something out of "2001: A Space Odyssey." However, I'm happy to report that the times have changed and so have tablet designs.

After Apple released the iPad (let's give credit where credit is due), aesthetics and design became a more prominent selling-point for the emerging portable devices. Overall, tablet girth has declined, ushering in the new era of thin slates, and we've gathered the ones so sleek, their predecessors wouldn't even recognize them … Read more

Large iPad ditched? Not dead yet, says analyst

A large Apple tablet isn't out of the question this year, an analyst told CNET, in the wake of a report today saying the device is "shelved."

"The problem so far is that the use-case hasn't been made for a large tablet yet," said Rhoda Alexander, director of tablet and monitor research at IHS Technology.

That sentiment was echoed in a CNET review of the large Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, which said interface and performance issues hold it back from being a laptop replacement.

A report today from Digitimes claimed that shipments … Read more

Samsung launches ultrasonic Galaxy Core Advance cover, optical stand

Samsung on Friday announced a few new accessories for its Galaxy Core Advance.

First up is an ultrasonic cover that fits atop the smartphone and detects objects to help users navigate around an area or unfamiliar places. When heading towards an obstacle, the cover vibrates. The cover can target objects up to 2 meters away, said Samsung, and it could be especially useful for the visually impaired.

In addition to the ultrasound cover, Samsung announced an Optical Scan Stand. The accessory is essentially a stand that positions the Galaxy Core Advance to point directly at printed material. That then activates … Read more

When you get mad, you get mad.

When you're a famous person, it's your duty to share your madness. And if you want the immediacy of sharing just how mad you are, you go to Twitter.

Quite naturally, this is what LeBron James chose to do on Wednesday when his phone phlegmed out and erased everything he had on it.

As Business Insider reports, the Miami Heat forward told his 12 million followers: "My phone just erased everything it had in it and rebooted. One of the sickest feelings I've had in my life!!!"
