Remember when vending machines distributed premade goods like candy, Super Balls, and sausages? Yawn. A new kind of vending machine called SkyForge makes use of a 3D printer to sell plastic items that are only limited by the imaginations of the machine's users.

Adobe revamps Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements

Adobe on Monday released its latest version of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements, the lower-cost versions of the company's photo- and video-editing suites geared toward hobbyists.

Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 have been overhauled to incorporate cloud-based functionality and a revamped editing experience, the company said in a statement.

Element of mystery: Will periodic table get new resident?

The periodic table of the elements may be welcoming a new member to its elite group soon. A team of scientists led by researchers at Lund University in Sweden has confirmed the existence of a new element. The super-heavy element has atomic number 115.

The team built on earlier work by Russian research groups. The experiment used to confirm the new element took place at a lab in Germany. It involved taking a thin film of americium, a radioactive element with atomic number 95, and bombarding it with calcium ions. Archos announced an 8-inch member to its Elements family of tablets. The Archos 80 Titanium runs Android 4.1 and will be available in March for $169.

The tablet houses a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, a quad-core graphics processor, and 1GB of RAM. It sports a stylish aluminum back casing and a 1,024x768-pixel resolution IPS screen.
