Rest your weary head in a Mega Man helmet and pillow

Cosplay has never been so comfy as with the plush Mega Man helmet and arm cannon set. It's a costume and a pillow. Velcro the helmet to your head and lay down with your noggin on the soft Mega Buster. If you're lucky, you'll dream in a side-scroll.

We've seen plenty of pillows that will earn you stares if you use them out in public (I'm looking at you, Ostrich Pillow). This definitely falls into that category, but you get the added cache of retro gaming awesomeness. Some people will look at you, wondering what planet you came from. Others will want to give you a high five to your cannon arm and inquire about your high score.… Read more

Making sense of the PS4 game lineup

NEW YORK--So the world didn't exactly get what it wanted out of Sony's PlayStation 4 debut tonight. There was no sight of the actual console itself and details about its specific release date and price were also nowhere to be seen.

Sony's team-up with Gaikai is sure to net some interesting ideas and implementations with cloud streaming, the sharing of game screens, remote play, and other concoctions, but the games themselves were what made the biggest impact.

Those pondering the PS4's gaming prowess were served an interesting dish. Ten or so major developers were represented in … Read more

Capcom releases Street Fighter x Megaman for free

Capcom dropped a Christmas gift to the public today: the free release of Street Fighter X Megaman. It's still in all its 8-bit glory and makes my 6-year-old gamer spirit tingle with nostalgia.

SFxMM is a fan-made game cover of Megaman, an old 8-bit platformer that lived on the original Nintendo Entertaiment System since the late '80s/early '90s. The mechanics of the game are simple: run, shoot, jump and slide through each stage until you reach the boss at the end. Though the game is centered around the Blue Bomber himself, most of the fan service seems to … Read more

'Human meat' butcher shop gets gamers hungry for Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil has always been heavy on the removal of parts from bodies. A recent PR stunt just makes it all a little more real. To hype the release of Resident Evil 6, Capcom briefly opened a human butcher shop in London called Wesker & Son.

The edible meats, shaped by a food artist, took the forms of all sorts of people parts, ranging from torsos to hands to naughtier bits that will make guys cringe. It's as if Lorena Bobbitt was called in for a consultation.… Read more

Resident Evil 6 debut moved up to October 2

Capcom has revised the release date for Resident Evil 6 from November 20 to October 2.

The new, earlier date was announced at Capcom's annual Captivate showcase event, where executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said the decision was based on positive fan reaction to January's announcement trailer for the game, in which the originally intended November release date was revealed.

The enthusiastic reception for the trailer made Capcom want to get the game into players' hands earlier, says Kobayashi-san, so it proposed to the development team the idea of bringing the game out ahead of the original schedule. Capcom has about 600 people working on Resident Evil 6, it says, with 150 of those in-house staff.

Is Resident Evil Revelations the next must-own 3DS game?

It's been nearly a year since Nintendo released the 3DS, but there's yet to be a game targeted specifically at older gamers. Does Resident Evil: Revelations fit the M-rated gaming 3DS void or leave zombie-deprived gamers wanting more?

Jeff: While my time with the 3DS has afforded my countless "wow" moments thanks to the occasionally brilliant 3D screen, it's never truly impressed me in terms of graphics alone. This is where Resident Evil Revelations fits in. It is easily the best-looking 3DS game on the market right now, producing visuals on par with something like Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube.

Speaking of Resident Evil 4, Revelations delivers an experience similar to the franchise classic, in not only controls, but tone and atmosphere. Of course being on the 3DS platform demands some tweaking, but the transition to handheld has been seamless.

Revelations introduces some new gameplay, specifically the ability to scan for items using a special device. For me, this made things a little easier than I had hoped, considering Resident Evil games usually force the player to be smart with things like ammo conservation. Almost every room you enter contains hidden ammo or health, so the redundancy of performing scans became a bit tedious after a while. … Read more

Capcom teasing Resident Evil 6 reveal?

It's been nearly three years since Resident Evil 5 was first released, but the next full installment in the franchise may finally be at hand. A viral marketing campaign with a decidedly apocalyptic theme has been tied to Capcom, with a payoff announcement expected tomorrow afternoon.

The campaign is centered at NoHopeLeft.com, a blog hosting pictures and videos of graffiti from around the world. Most of the tags show the slogan "No Hope Left," with a sort of inverted biohazard logo. (In Japan, the Resident Evil series is known as BioHazard.) A handful of pictures on the blog also include a date: January 19, 2012, with the latest video pairing that with a time, 2 p.m. Pacific.
