Call of Duty

The original Call of Duty, released in 2004 for the PC, was developed by Infinity Ward. The entire Infinity Ward team, … Read more

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 review

Modern Warfare 3 marks the final chapter of this Call of Duty series, bringing an engaging single-player campaign filled with nonstop action and a polished multiplayer experience.

Pros

Polished campaign: Modern Warfare 3 holds nothing back as a mind-numbing, blockbuster, single-player experience. The game places you in the shoes of several protagonist soldiers from the previous two games and takes you around the world, chasing terrorists in the middle of an all-out war. Modern Warfare 3 may not have the most advanced game engine, but it excels at demonstrating destruction of cities, intense firefights, and uncomfortable, cinematic situations.

Satisfying multiplayer: … Read more

Phone Amego for Mac review

Phone Amego for Mac sits on your menu bar and interacts with your phone for a number of functions, monitoring and controlling calls, blocking unwanted callers, doing Web reverse lookups, and setting calendars. It works well and proves useful, but doesn't support Wi-Fi.

Pros

Intuitive interface: Configuring Phone Amego for Mac does not take long. Everything is clearly presented on the application's different panes. Setting your communication logging parameters, for instance, is as easy as ticking check boxes.

Works with AppleScript: You can use AppleScript to automate your interaction with connected phones, which means you can place calls … Read more

CallApp Social Dialer CallerID review

CallApp Social Dialer CallerID scans social sites and retrieves information about the person who's calling you, including photos, workplace details, Facebook status, latest Tweet, and more. If you get a lot of calls every day, this app can help you figure out which you should answer right away and which you should avoid.

Pros

Comprehensive: CallApp Social Dialer CallerID provides social, business, and personal info about callers and contacts that you would need at least 15 minutes to gather manually via your Web browser, not to mention that it scans yellow-pages, white-pages, and other sources you'd probably not … Read more

FREE Calls with magicJack review

FREE calls with magicJack lets you place calls and receive both calls and voicemail for free, all through a familiar set of controls.

Pros

Intuitive interface: When you're using magicJack, you might forget you're not actually using the regular phone app on your device. The app imports your contacts, so they're right where you expect them to be. And there's a log of all your recent calls, as well.

Clear calls: All of the calls we placed through magicJack were clean and clear. There was no detectable static or interference, and the connection was completed right … Read more

Tango Voice & Video Calls review

With its sleek interface and wealth of social features, Tango Voice & Video Calls looks like one of the most complete communication platforms for Android. It allows you to text, call, and video-chat through 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi with anyone anywhere so long as they have the app installed on their device. The good part is that it really works.

Pros

Titanfall review

Titanfall, from the original creators of the Call of Duty franchise, promises to be the next step in the evolution of first-person shooters, offering action-packed gameplay.

Pros

Basic shooter with a new twist: First-person shooters (FPS) may not change much over the years, except for more guns, better graphics, and bigger explosions. But Titanfall introduces a couple new elements into an otherwise stale genre. Parkour-style wall running and giant mechs force old-school FPS-ers to adapt or die.

Seamless mechanics: What sets Titanfall apart? Activating actions is almost completely intuitive. When you run up buildings, cling to walls to set ambushes, … Read more

Avoid spam calls, find numbers faster with Current Caller ID on Android

Last year, I shared how to use the Whitepages Current Caller ID app to easily track blocked calls and texts. Now, Whitepages has added the ability to spot many of today's spam/scam numbers, along with some other convenient features.

If you don't have the app already, there's no time like the present to get a copy. Current Caller ID is available for Android 2.2 and up.

The UI for the app has received a makeover, sporting lighter colors and better organization for its features. For example, the previous version of the app had two tabs … Read more
