Beercade: Fighting-game winner gets a frosty brew

In the world of The Last Barfighter, nothing is just handed to you. You must earn your cold beer with your feet and fists of fury. You must be faster, more nimble, and more powerful than your opponent. You must conquer in order to quaff.

The Beercade is like a microbrew-loving gamer's dream come to life. This creation of advertising group McKinney is an old-school arcade game combined with a beer dispenser. Everything was made in-house, from the arcade cabinet to the game itself.… Read more

Apple's retail VP departs amid search for new boss

If Apple retail vice president Jerry McDougal was on the short list to head up the company's retail efforts, that list might now be even shorter.

McDougal took off from Apple last week, says IfoAppleStore. Citing sources, the blog -- which has obsessively tracked Apple's retail goings-on -- says McDougal plans to spend more time with his family, a move that puts him out of the running to replace John Browett, whom Apple fired last October.

The blog goes on to say that McDougal was effectively the "right-hand man," of former Apple retail chief Ron Johnson. … Read more

My favorite high horsepower car under $50k

...the Ford Mustang Boss 302. Oh, I know, here come the Chevy and Mopar folks telling me I'm biased because I own a bunch of Fords, but the Fords I own were all made before Clinton was in office -- some before Nixon. So that's that.

I love the Boss because it moves well, sounds good, looks good, and is enjoyable to be in, not just be seen in. It's an absolute hammer on the road, does so without the lumpy, surging weirdness of turbos and blowers, and is just this side of too wild for daily … Read more

Ford showcases customizing in 2013 Mustang ad

Ford wants consumers to get creative with the 2013 Mustang. The company debuted an ad online on Friday depicting the creativity of Ford's "Inner Mustang" customizer, which launched online last September.

Visitors to Ford's Mustang Customizer can build the Mustang V6, GT, Boss 302, or GT500 as well as choose from a pallet of custom colors, trims, wheels, and decals. The finished designs can be shared on Facebook.

According to Ford, more than 4 million digital Mustangs have been made using the customizer. But is too early to tell if the Web site has affected sales … Read more

Shoot to the beat

Return to the League of Evil

League of Evil 2 is the sequel to one of the hardest platform games in the iTunes App Store. The 8-bit graphics found in the first game are gone this time around; they're replaced with much smoother graphical style that doesn't detract from the difficult gameplay. Taking queues from superhard games like Super Meat Boy for computers and consoles, League of Evil 2 is the type of game that has you trying to complete levels countless times to grab an item and get to the goal in the shortest amount of time. Like the first game, you're … Read more

2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: High-performance, low-tech

It's not often that I have to begin a vehicle review with a five-paragraph explanation for the score assigned to it, but it's also rare that I have to assign such a low a score to a car that I loved as much as I did the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302.

Before you Mustang devotees grab your torches and pitchforks and converge on CNET's offices, demanding my head, you'll want to know that, in this very same review, I also praise the Boss' V-8 power, handling prowess, and firm, yet supple suspension. If it didn'… Read more
