Two new Nook Colors coming this year?

Right on top of word that Amazon will be unveiling a new Kindle or a new Android tablet on September 28, The Digital Reader blog says it got its hands on a PowerPoint slide that indicates that Barnes & Noble will be releasing two new tablets this year.

Rumors have been percolating for a while that the Nook Color would be upgraded around the one-year anniversary of its release (October 26, 2010). But this latest rumor has Barnes & Noble releasing that $249 product, dubbed the Encore, as well as a second $349 model, the Acclaim.

Samsung Acclaim gets Froyo

U.S. Cellular announced today that it's pushing Android 2.2 Froyo to its Samsung Acclaim smartphone. You can't get the update over the air--you'll have to actually connect your phone to a PC--but that's a small price to pay for all the goodness that Froyo brings. Samsung Acclaim for U.S. Cellular drops July 9

In late spring, U.S. Cellular revealed through its Facebook page that it would be bring two Android smartphones, the HTC Desire and Samsung Acclaim, to its lineup this summer, and we now have a release date and pricing for one of those devices.

The Samsung Acclaim will be available July 9 for $99.95 after a mail-in rebate. With the purchase of the phone, the carrier will also give customers a $20 gift card to use toward app purchases in the Android Market.

First official look at U.S. Cellular's Samsung Acclaim

Almost one month after we first learned of U.S. Cellular's upcoming exclusive Android handset, the first official look at the phone has arrived online.

How do we know it's official? Samsung is the party responsible for the leaked image. An Engadget reader happened upon the phone "without much effort" and passed along the picture. It also looks exactly like the phone that was on display at Google I/O last month.
