Tim Cook's review of new Apple book: 'Nonsense'

When it comes to a newly-published book about Apple and Steve Jobs, don't look for a two thumbs up from Tim Cook. A middle finger might be more likely.

The book, "Haunted Empire," focuses on the post-Jobs era and is written by former Wall Street Journal technology reporter Yukari Iwatani Kane. It draws a comparison between Jobs and Cook and argues that the company is in a period of decline from the apogee it reached during the reign of its legendary co-founder. But Cook, named CEO in August 2011 after an ailing Jobs resigned, blasted the book … Read more

Why an 8GB iPhone 5C just isn't a good deal

Please, please, please, don't buy the 8GB iPhone 5C.

In the UK, for example, the 8GB iPhone 5C costs £429 ($712) versus £469 ($779) for the 16GB model. For now, the 8GB iPhone 5C is available only in the UK, France, Germany, Australia, and China. US customers will have to settle for the 16GB version or choose another iPhone model like the (non-4G) 4S.

Apple declined CNET's request for comment.

I don't want to go all Apple vs. Microsoft on you, but we have a national security situation.

The eminences grises of these two famous companies have come out on opposing sides of one of today's great political debates.

Just in case you didn't quite get what he was saying, he added: "You won't find much admiration from me."

However, on Thursday, Apple … Read more
