Samsung, LG vie to unveil flexible display smartphones

LG and Samsung may be trying to beat each other to the market with a flexible smartphone.

Dubbed either the LG Z or Z1, LG's entry into the flexible smartphone arena would offer a concave design, ZDNet Asia said on Wednesday, citing "industry sources." Curved like a banana, according to the English translation of the story, the display would offer a hefty six inches of screen real estate.

AT&T officially announced its pricing plan for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, which goes on sale this Friday at the carrier's online and brick and mortar stores, and also at RadioShack.

The carrier will sell the phablet, which also packs in high-end specs and an improved stylus for more multitasking than in previous versions, for $299 with a new two-year service agreement. If that number's a little too daunting up front, AT&T's Next program lets you pay in $35 monthly installments.

RadioShack Galaxy Note 3 trade-in deal beckons buyers

Current Galaxy Note owners can catch a break on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 when they purchase the extra-large smartphone through RadioShack.

Come Friday, RadioShack will sell AT&T and Sprint models of the supersize phablet for $175 less to customers who trade in a Galaxy Note 2.

If you're still hanging onto your original Note, RadioShack will slice $100 off the price -- that's $299.99 with AT&T and $349.99 with Sprint when you sign a new two-year service agreement.

Android 4.3 said to be on tap for Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, Note 2

Samsung's line of flagship devices will be getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean soon enough.

According to Android Community, which obtained a copy of French carrier SFR's update cycle, the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2 will be getting Android 4.3 in the coming months. The Galaxy S4 will be first up with an update in October. The Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will get the updates in November or December.
