Early Motorola Droid 5 details and photos emerge?

Don't look now, but we might soon have the fifth generation of Motorola's sliding QWERTY Droid smartphone. The first rumored images and specifications tied to the Motorola Droid 5 have emerged, suggesting that Verizon could soon announce the next-gen sliding QWERTY model.

If the photos are to be believed, Verizon and Motorola don't look to change things up too much when it comes to design. Indeed, the phone looks like it could reiterate last year's five-row sliding keyboard in the Droid 4.

Reportedly, the Droid 5 will feature a 4.3-inch 720p HD display and a … Read more

iPad Mini 2: Same on the outside means Retina on the inside?

Yesterday's iPhone event revealed nothing about new iPads, but if a new video is to be believed, there's an iPad Mini 2 waiting in Apple's wings -- and its feature set is definitely open to interpretation.

Unbox Therapy, which recently showed a very convincing-looking iPad 5 shell, claims to have the back plate that will house the iPad Mini 2. Like the white first-gen Mini, it sports an aluminum finish, but this time with a mirrored Apple logo -- same as the rumored iPad 5. Take a look:

The key takeaway, of course, is that the iPad … Read more

Amazon will reportedly give away its smartphone for free

Amazon is going to give away its long-rumored smartphone for free, according to a report from former Wall Street Journal reporters Amir Efrati and Jessica E. Lessin.

Unnamed sources told the pair that Amazon is considering the offer for "its long-planned smartphone." While it has talked to wireless companies about selling the phones through the carriers' channels, Amazon will probably sell the phone on its site. The company doesn't want to make people sign up for a wireless plan contract for the free phone, a requirement wireless companies typically use to encourage customers to renew their contracts … Read more

Rumor Has It: It's the end of the iPhone 5S rumors as we know it

Well, it's been about a year and it's safe to say this: we can finally stop talking about the iPhone 5S and 5C rumors on Rumor Has It.

That is, until we talk about all the things we thought we were getting but didn't get.

But I digress. Just this week, Apple sent invites for its event on Tuesday, so I took a moment to recap all the rumors about the phone(s) so far.

Also this week, the PlayStation 4 might also include voice recognition, using the PlayStation Eye camera. Sweet, now everyone can yell at the TV and have it actually do something.

New iPad: Smaller, thinner, lighter?

With all the hubbub over next week's iPhone event, let's not forget that Apple is also due for an iPad refresh, something that may happen sooner than you think.

Indeed, a new video from Unbox Therapy shows a very convincing-looking iPad 5 shell, one that's noticeably narrower than its predecessor -- but still allows for the current 9.7-inch screen. Take a look:

Assuming this video is real, the iPad 5 clearly takes some design cues from the iPad Mini, with much more rounded edges and corners, separated volume buttons, and a thinner overall design.

According to a recent ET News report (translate), Samsung will employ an aluminum or other-metal housing for its fifth-generation hero phone.

As one of the biggest knocks against the Samsung Galaxy S4, the plastic body is often viewed as an inferior material compared to the likes of the HTC One's metal chassis. CNET, … Read more
