Keyboard keeps your digits toasty

If there's one thing we learned this last winter, people get cold while sitting at their computers. Very cold. And the gadget industry jumped into action and responded with heated products ranging from mice to mittens, throwing in an occastional lap or knee warmer for good measure.

But honestly, given how much heat emanates from a computer, why should there be a need for something that produces additional BTUs? The cleverly named WK001 keyboard from V8, for example, is powered by a USB connection that generates two levels of toastiness--"normal hand temperature" and "normal body … Read more

Weather phone protects property

It's bad enough to be perennially paranoid about the status of one's home, scoping out all makes and numbers of cameras to keep an eye on your property while you're at the office. But anxiety levels rise exponentially when you're away for extended periods or have a vacation home to worry about. Cameras may be useful for limited surveillance but can't detect all the physical threats to your abode, such as those from the elements.

That's where the "Sensaphone 400" comes in, according to Gadgetizer, with sensors that monitor "water, wind, … Read more

Helio Heats up its lineup with a new phone

Helio has announced a brand new cell phone in its lineup, and no, it's not that QWERTY phone that we were all excited about a week ago. Instead, it's a slim and shiny slider phone called the Heat, which appears to be the glam version of the company's much more sedate-looking Drift. The big design difference is that the Heat features "electrostatic" touch-sensitive buttons, much like the ones on the LG Chocolate. The touchpad includes the standard soft key and navigational buttons as well as dedicated music-player controls. It comes in onyx black as well … Read more

Chic wooden radiator saves energy, water

All eco-values aside, I'd drool over this radiator if it had the consumption levels of a Hummer. Why? Because it's pretty. When you're used to noisy old apartment-building radiators that frequently squirt water all over the floor, a good-looking one is like high art. But it gets even better. The Energy-Saver radiators from Belgian company Jaga, as featured on Treehugger, use 12 percent of a traditional radiator's energy and 10 percent of the water. It's not cheap--in the UK, it'll cost you the equivalent of just under $400 USD--but your energy bill will probably … Read more

T-Mobile feels the (Miami) Heat: Limited Edition D-Wade Sidekick 3

"Hey Flash. I'm in Miami. What r u up 2?" "Oh, hey Paris. Just chillin' with my new Sidekick." It's no secret that the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 is a hit with Hollywood's young celebs and athletes alike. Of the latter group, it seems that Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade is such a fan that he has teamed up with T-Mobile and Danger Inc. to create a Limited Edition D-Wade Sidekick 3. It's been reported that the all-star guard personally had a hand in designing the special Sidekick, taking style hints from the … Read more

Warm digits for digital happiness

Like many bloggers, some of our fellow Cravers are occasionally a tad more anxious than we prefer in sharing their personal issues. One such unnamed acquaintance (Caroline McCarthy) recently complained of poor circulation in her extremities, particularly the fingertips--a wicked chill that apparently is well beyond the capacity of over-the-counter devices like heated mice.

So after embarking on an exhaustive search, we came across a potential solution: the "iTWYF" gloves, which stands for "I Touch With Your Fingers," of course. Gearfuse says the secret to these $45 gloves are three "stylus pen point-like grasps" … Read more

Hot colors for warm mouse

We think we've finally figured out the strategy behind this whole heated peripheral craze (we're a little slow on the uptake this time of year): The colder it gets outside, the more products are released inside.

That's the only explanation we can come up with for the proliferation of such products as the heated mouse by Brando--which, if you can believe it, has come with its second version in almost as many months. The "USB Warmer Mouse II" seems almost identical to its predecessor but is a bit more stylish, coming in colors like red … Read more

Cool Blue Ice phone sends winter chills

Maybe it's the influence of the fall leaves turning, but we're apparently obsessed with color this weekend. In the world of Crave, however, hues are rarely autumnal. Unless you consider pink an earth tone.

This mobile phone does, at least, have a seasonal feel. Gadget Candy says O2 has added some distinct pigment to its phones with the "Cool Blue Ice" handset, which comes with the line's standard MP3 player and 1.3-megapixel camera. If you want a more traditional wintry look, you might opt for the original snow-white O2 Ice.
