Samsung could intro 10.5-inch tablet at CES, report says

Samsung could introduce a 10.5-inch AMOLED tablet in early January, according to a new report from Korea's ETNews.

Details recently found in a shipping manifest point to at least one of Samsung's next Galaxy Tabs coming with a premium price tag.

Factor in earlier rumors of a high-end line of tablets designed to compete with Apple's iPad and iPad Mini and things line up nicely. It stands to reason that the SM-T331 described in the manifest could be a variant of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.

Oppo confirms 2K display for Find 7 smartphone

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo may fire the first shot as the war of next-gen displays gets underway. The upcoming Find 7 handset will debut with a 2,560x1,440 pixel (2K) display, according to a recent tweet from the manufacturer. And it seems like only yesterday they were readying the world's first 1080p smartphone.

There are relatively few known specifications about the Find 7; however, the rumors paint a pretty picture. Should the device live up to expectations, consumers could be in for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB RAM and a whopping 4,000mAh battery.

Sprint may offer LG G Flex, according to leaked pic

Sprint is expected to offer the LG G Flex in the near future, according to oft-reliable Twitter source evleaks.

A picture surfaced over the weekend that shows a press render of the device with Sprint's Spark LTE logo in the notification bar.

The curved Android is expected to hit the US at some point in the next few months. Aside from Sprint, other carriers said to be in line include AT&T and T-Mobile.

Apple could sell 175M iPhones in fiscal 2014 -- analyst

Apple's iPhone 5S could see sales of 175 million for the current fiscal year and 193 million the following year, predicts Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley.

These latest estimates are an upgrade from the previous predictions of 171 million for fiscal 2014 -- which ends next September -- and 186 million for fiscal 2015. Why the bump? Walkley attributed the new forecast to two factors.

Is LG cooking up a 5.5-inch Gx?

LG may have another round of smartphones in the works, according recent rumblings.

What appears to be promotional or marketing material for an LG Gx has made its way online. According to the source of the images in a report, the device has a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and LTE-Advanced support.

It's purported to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and a 3,140mAh battery. Based on the reports, the so-called Gx appears to fall somewhere between the Optimus G and G2.

Apple, Microsoft may merge one day, says analyst. Wait. What?

Imagine Apple and Microsoft as one single company. Impossible, you say. Probably, but not according to one analyst.

Chatting with Fox Business on Monday, Keith Fitz-Gerald of Money Map Press advanced his seemingly wacky idea that Apple and Microsoft could merge in the not too distant future to combat their mutual rivals.

Huawei could usher in octa-core era on December 16

The Honor 4 should be among the first Androids to market with an eight-core mobile processor.

Don't look now, but the octa-core smartphone wars are about to begin. Indeed, Huawei may be first to announce a smartphone with a "true" octa-core processor later this month.

An invitation to a Huawei press event suggests that the Huawei Honor 4 should make its debut on December 16. The processor, which is expected to come from MediaTek, figures to deliver eight cores with clock speeds of 1.7GHz.

Samsung to challenge Apple with AMOLED tablets -- report

Samsung is cooking up a couple of new high-end tablets outfitted with AMOLED displays. At least, that's the scuttlebutt from a story at South Korean Web portal Naver.

Citing an unnamed industry source, Naver said on Friday that Samsung is prepping two tablets, one with an 8-inch screen and the other with a 10-inch screen. Both will come with AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) displays, which are designed to be are faster, thinner, and brighter than their LCD counterparts. Could the Galaxy S5 be this mystery Samsung phone?

Some pretty crazy specs for a mysterious new Samsung phone have shown up in benchmark results over at GFXBench, leading much of the Internet to wonder if the handheld in question could be the successor to the Galaxy S4.

Rumors have already started to flow about an upcoming Galaxy S5, including word of a unibody metal design, a 16-megapixel camera, 3GB of RAM, and perhaps even an accelerated release schedule that could place the new Android flagship as little as two to three months away.
