Microsoft taps gamers to test next Xbox One update

Xbox One owners may be hearing from Microsoft about taking the game console's next major update for an early spin.

Due in early March, the update will add new features and fixes related to the Xbox One's party and multiplayer features. The goal is to prepare the console for the release of "Titanfall," an online, multiplayer game.

Many Xbox One users who downloaded the latest update say their screens now go black when they press the Xbox Button on their controllers. A number of them commenting on both the Xbox One support forums and Reddit's Xbox thread report that the audio remains alive even as all screen activity goes dark. Windows 8.1 users beset by technical woes may find some help in a newly released update.

On Tuesday, Microsoft issued an update package that fixes a variety of noncritical but potentially frustrating problems. The package's support page lists Netflix playback, orientation on a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga, shutdown time, and autocorrect as a few of the subjects addressed.
