Is the iPad helping women read erotic books?

Once upon a time, fathers and sons hid their Playboys beneath their mattresses. But what did women do with their Playgirls?

Somehow, this is less well recorded, though society--or whatever is left of it--surely frowned more strongly on the notion that women openly read books of steamy intent.

Then along came the iPad and the Kindle. Suddenly, it seems, sales of erotic books aimed at women are looking highly perky.

I find myself excited by an in-depth analysis from the Daily Mail, which offered that sales of erotic novels aimed at women have soared 30 percent.

Judge tosses law barring sex offenders from Facebook

Over the past few years, many people have asked whether sex offenders should be able to use social-media sites like Facebook and MySpace.

This week, a federal judge decided to throw out a Louisiana state law that prohibited sex offenders from joining or even looking at Facebook and other social-networking sites. U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson, based in Baton Rouge, said the law was unreasonable and unconstitutional, according to the Associated Press.

The law in question went into effect in Louisiana last August. It deemed that anyone convicted of a sex offense against a minor or of video voyeurism … Read more

Match.com: iPhoners are office romantics, Androiders are loose

You will wish to draw your own loving conclusions. I will merely draw you a picture or two.

For the results of a survey by Match.com have stirred me into deep romantic thought. I am grateful to VentureBeat for having an initial relationship with this data, as it pokes a stiletto into my view of dating.

The data analyzed the behavior of various smartphone owners when it comes to love. Oddly, it declared that Android users are easy, loose, flaunt themselves so much on the first date that they end up having sex far more readily than those with … Read more

At last! A sci-fi brothel near Vegas

Techies have more money than anyone but the bloated, floating egos on Wall Street.

Who, then, could not admire the enterprise that is melding the carnal joys of the brothel with an atmosphere that will make the most nervous nerd feel at home?

The Alien Cathouse is the name of a soon-to-be sci-fi brothel just northwest of Vegas. The way the Las Vegas Review-Journal teases it, this pulsating brainwave will offer "girls from another world."

Whether this world will be Chico or the Planet Cha-Cha-Muluumba is not yet known.

What is clear is that this is the work … Read more

SNL shows best sexual couplings of gadgets

It's Monday, all the more reason to offer you a little fantasy to help you through what might be a difficult week.

So please lean back a little and make sure there's no one close by whom you might accidentally nudge with a flinging arm or head. For I am going to show you gadgets having sex with each other.

You see, on Saturday, the kind and thoughtful folks at "Saturday Night Live" decided that given gadgets' new societal podium of sexual desirability, they should be shown having sex.

No, this is not pornography. There is foreplay. … Read more

Research: Web porn stops men from performing

Men in their 20s have a lot to worry about.

Will they ever get a job? Will they ever keep that job for more than a few months? Will they ever have enough money to pay their student loans and still be able to spend $100 a week on pot? Will they ever put their pants on the right way round at the first attempt?

Now it seems that something they do for recreation, in order to take their mind off their worries, is having increasingly worrying effects.

My hard-core reading of Psychology Today caused me to come across a … Read more

Woman settles in Match.com sexual assault lawsuit

A woman who sued Match.com claiming she was sexually assaulted on a date has settled her lawsuit after seeing proof that the site now screens its members for sexual predators, according to the Associated Press.

Carole Markin had sued the online dating site in April following the reported assault after learning that her date had previously been convicted of sexual battery. Rather than seeking financial damages, Markin's lawsuit asked that Match.com start reviewing its membership for signs of sexual predators.

Shortly after the suit was filed, the dating service announced a new policy whereby it would check its members against a national sex offenders registry. … Read more

Report: PETA to launch porn site

Animal love is a difficult thing.

Sometimes, it can lead people to such extremes that they tend to diminish the significance of, well, people.

These thoughts course through my being as I read reports that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals intends to unleash a porn site.

Reuters, in the midst of a wider exposition of .xxx domains, reported that PETA doesn't intend, as do so many ethically upright companies, to block its .xxx domain. No, the organization's representative reportedly declared that Peta.xxx will be a porn site that "draws attention to the plight of … Read more

Missouri restricts social networking between teachers, students (podcast)

A new Missouri law, known as the Amy Hestir Student Protection Act, is designed primarily to protect children against sexual abuse from teachers and other education professionals, including those who might have been previously charged with abuse at a former district. The practice, known as "passing the trash," occurs when an educator is fired or resigns from one school district and winds up being hired at another district without the new district having knowledge of the alleged sexual abuse.

And while the law mostly focuses on physical misconduct, there is also a provision that would require districts to &… Read more

Time Warner CEO: Web porn eating our profits

Cable companies have long since been adept at profiting from man's weakness.

They charge people for movies, knowing that so many families have little time to head out to movie theaters.

They would also charge heavily for porn movies, knowing that, late at night, some people struggle to get to sleep.

I am sure, therefore, that you will shed a long, drippy tear for Time Warner. According to AllThingsD, the company is feeling the pain of making far less money out of all things kinky.

You might take some illicit pleasure from groaning words emerging out of the luscious … Read more
