Clearwire boosts size of stock offering to $350M

Clearwire expects to raise $350 million in its stock offering next week, an increase over its previous plans to raise $300 million.

The money-losing mobile broadband provider and wholesaler plans to sell 175 million Class A shares at $2 in an offering expected to close on December 13, the company said in a statement today. Clearwire said it plans to use the proceeds from the offering to continue to operate and upgrade its existing WiMax network to a newer technology called LTE.

Clearwire prepping $300M stock offering

Clearwire is on its way to shoring up its coffers.

The mobile broadband provider and wholesaler said it is planning a public stock offering of $300 million. It's unclear how many shareholders are willing to re-up on a stock that has fallen 60 percent this year.

The funds are critical to Clearwire's continued ability to operate and upgrade its existing WiMax network to a newer technology called LTE. Facebook IPO coming next spring?

Facebook is reportedly working on a plan to bring us the most anticipated public offering since Google's as early as next spring.

The social-networking giant is in internal discussions over when to file its IPO papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal. The filing reportedly could occur as early as this year, with shares making their debut on the market between April and June 2012.

Not too long ago Kobo announced that it would soon begin selling an ad-supported Kobo Touch with Offers for $99, matching the price of the Kindle Touch With Special Offers and Nook Simple Touch. The company says that product is now available.

LinkedIn to sell more shares to fend off plummeting stock price

Professional networking site LinkedIn is planning to offer more shares to protect its stock price from plummeting in the coming weeks.

According to a filing this week with the Securities and Exchange Commission, LinkedIn and its top shareholders plan to sell 8 million more shares in a secondary offering. The filing said that about 1.3 million of those shares will be sold by LinkedIn, while the remaining LinkedIn 6.7 million shares will be sold by stockholders. The offering is expected to help the company generate $100 million and its shareholders a sizable sum of their own.

Kobo unveils $99 ad-supported e-reader

Borrowing a page from Amazon's playbook, Kobo has quietly launched an ad-supported e-book reader.

The Kobo Touch with Offers features a 6-inch E-ink touch screen, Wi-Fi, and a $99 price tag--a $30 price reduction from the regular model. The only difference, Kobo explains, is that the device's screen will feature an advertisement at the bottom of the home screen, as well as a screensaver ad when it's shut down or in sleep mode.

Daily deal-aholics now have another avenue for purchasing discounted local offers, thanks to the arrival of the new Google Offers app for Android.

Google Offers continues to expand.

The daily-deals arm of the search giant announced 14 new deal partners and new personalization features making the process of finding and receiving relevant deals in one location more seamless for consumers. Google Offers also branched out to four new cities this week: San Jose, San Diego, Minneapolis and Baltimore.
