Apple officially launched its new MobileMe Calendar today, bringing the features out of beta and making them available to all members of the paid service.

The new MobileMe Calendar debuted as a beta in July, adding a number of new features to make the service more powerful and easier to use. The new calendar includes everything from redesigned views for day, week, and month, to a new list view showing your events.

Apple adds iPad support to MobileMe Gallery app

Apple today released an update for its MobileMe Gallery app, bringing full support for the iPad.

MobileMe Gallery is an app that allows subscribers to Apple's Internet services to view their MobileMe photo galleries. It also enables users to view any movies and video clips they may have stored on MobileMe.

Man finds lost iPad with iPod

Some may wonder how anyone could possibly leave something like an iPad on an airplane. Well, as parents know, it could happen very easily when there are children around to care for (and be distracted by).

Apple buys facial-recognition firm Polar Rose

Apple has acquired Malmo, Sweden-based Polar Rose, a facial-recognition company with several products that could be integrated into Apple's current and future product lines.

"Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not comment on our purpose or plans," Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet told CNET when asked about Polar Rose, all but confirming the widely reported acquisition.

Apple previews MobileMe Calendar beta

Apple is following up its recent MobileMe Mail beta with another beta of its online services. This time Apple has revamped MobileMe Calendar.

The new Calendar includes redesigned views for day, week, and month, as well as a new list view showing your events. As it did with MobileMe Mail, Apple has also improved performance of the Calendar application.

Sharing calendars has also become easier on MobileMe. Users can share a calendar with other MobileMe members and allow them to make changes to the shared calendars and then get notified when changes are made.

Apple's iOS 4 was released today ahead of the launch of the iPhone 4, which becomes available June 24. iPhone users can update to the latest OS via iTunes, but some features will not be available for the iPhone 3G and the update is not available at all for the original iPhone. iOS 4 will not be available on the iPad until this fall.

Apple revamps MobileMe e-mail

Apple made some changes to its MobileMe service Friday.

The MobileMe Mail service that was in beta for a little over a month is now available to all members. Mail at me.com now has widescreen and compact views, mail organization rules, single-click archiving, a formatting toolbar, SSL protection, and better junk mail protection. You can also use MobileMe to read mail from your other e-mail addresses now, according to Apple.

The service is only supported in Safari, Firefox, and IE8, and not in Chrome or Opera.

Apple launched a new e-mail beta program late Wednesday for users of its MobileMe subscription service.

The MobileMe Mail beta adds a number of new features to the service to help users take advantage of the service on the Web and on other supported devices like the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, and PC.

Apple MobileMe exec chosen as Thumbplay CTO

Apple's MobileMe technology executive has been appointed chief technology officer at Thumbplay, the cloud-based music company said on Monday.

Pablo Calamera was most recently director of Apple's MobileMe, and spent a total of 10 years at the company over the course of his career. In the newly created position of CTO, he will report directly to Evan Schwartz, Thumbplay CEO and co-founder.
