Version: 7tools Partition Manager 2009
"Demo works for me"
Pros: No data destroyed (so far, anyway) and handles Linux ext partions, very quick formatting
Cons: Can't tell how long the demo will work
Summary: The first time I started the demo, it appeared to be non-functional, with the menus grayed-out. But the next time and every time thereafter, the program has been working, just fine. I'm using it on an old IBM laptop running Windows 98SE, with an ext partition setup for Linux. I was leery, but it turned my one FAT32 disk into three partitions very quickly, two in FAT32 and one in ext2. Everything seems to be intact from the former lone c drive. Lately, I've been using the Gparted utility from a Linux distro, but even Linux sometimes won't boot, so it's nice to have a program that runs under my old 98SE.
I'm just trying to figure out whether the demo has an expiration date. Can't seem to find that info.
Updated on Mar 17, 2009Update: Upon closer examination, there are some features missing from the demo, but that's to be expected; there are work-arounds, and it does give a very good demo of the product's abilities.
