Version: 7-Zip 4.57
Pros: 7-Zip is free and functions very well. First, its fast, small in size (less than 1MB!), and free! Supports a load of file types, simple and easy to see where the options are when using it.
Cons: Well, the icons aren't very nice, although it is a very small price to pay for something that's free and does a lot more than a lot other paid compression programs do. It also doesn't pack .RAR, sadly. I would love it if it would.

Version: 7-Zip 4.32
"One of the best freeware archivers."
Pros: Its free.
Its flagship archive (7Zip, .7z file) has really good compression.
Natively supports many archive types.
Cons: Interface appears very old.
Only supports creation of ZIP type archives and 7Zip.

Pros: this will open nearly ALL types of compressed files (inc RAR).the 7zip format compression is better than winRAR.it has right click menu for windows and you can drag and drop.
if you do need a better compression tool than the one that comes with windows (zip file)why pay when you can get this for FREE

Version: 7-Zip 4.42
Pros: What I really like about 7Zip is the number of extensions it supports. It can handle .zip, .rar, .7z and anything else that you can throw at it. The interface is nice and clean though not as jazzy as one would expect. That is forgivable when you notice that the size of the package is less than 1MB. The compression/decompression speeds are excellent and help is fairly comprehensive.
Cons: Newbie's would find its interface a little difficult to get used to. It isn't exactly the best thought out design. And couple that with no skin support and no newbie guided mode or wizard.
