"It is still rather new at this stage"
Version: 7-Zip 9.22 beta
Pros
It was recommended by a software download and performed without any troubles
Cons
Haven't noticed any yet
Summary
I would assume this program has already had a lot of development work to this stage, and looks to be going ok so will give it further testing in the near future. It was a good recommendation that large suppliers of software are using it.

"*Almost* Perfect"
Version: 7-Zip 9.22 beta
Pros
Flexible, powerful, and free.
Cons
Bland GUI and lack of a basic feature (Open Target Directory) are major knocks for a program that's been around so long.
Summary
There's another program (7-Zip Theme Manager) that can take care of the ugly interface. But the lack of the Open Target Directory feature can make many - like me - who are used to this feature (which is in every other major file compression app I can think of) can be a deal breaker.
