"Good idea, but the implementation is not great"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
It loads and looks fine. Greatly expands the size of my desktop, which is cool.
Cons
I have a hard time getting my desktop ikons to end up in the right place. There are very few controls available.
Summary
Cool idea. Hope they improve this over time.

"i have been looking for this for a long time"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
literally endless desktop space. your desktop is as wide as the image you use as your background. the navigation (once you get used to it) is very quick & easy, & even intuitive. you can make your own 360 backgrounds & embed widgets & webpages
Cons
you have to make your own backgrounds through the website
Summary
get it, use it, love it!

"Partially functional; support questionable"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
Neat effect of horizontally scrolling desktop.
Has not impacted performance on my Vista SP1 OS.
Scrolling is usually smooth and reliable.Cons
The 360Desktop control bar, which is supposed to remain fixed in order to access parts of desktop not visible, tends to become 'unstuck' and scroll off the screen. Reboot fixes this, but only temporarily.
Summary
Support on developer's website is limited to a 'knowledgebase' that is comprised only of a limited number of FAQs. It's not possible to search specific questions & answers submitted by others; this may be due to limited responsiveness of developers. I submitted 2 support tickets 3 weeks ago; I've had no acknowledgement of their receipt and they are still marked as 'Open', not having been assigned to a technician. I expected better.
In addition to signing up to track submitted support tickets, there seems to be another sign-up. The website does not make it clear if this is to get on a mailing list or to be able to create and submit the 360-backgrounds. In any case, the promised email to complete that registration never arrived. And one of my support tickets was on this issue; as said, previously, no activity or response.
Just checked their website before writing this and found that they have released a new version. I will try that update. However, so far it's a nice idea with simply inadequate user follow-up. And in the promotional videos, the Aussie CEO seemed like such a concerned and reliable guy. -
"Amazing concept!!!"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
1. It works great, and didn't seem to slow my computer down at all.
2. It does just what it says and gives you much more space on your laptop.
3. You can get beautiful backdrops for the 360.Cons
Can't think of any.
Summary
Great program!!

"Will be FABULOUS once bugs are worked out"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
I absolutely, positively adore the CONCEPT. When it's working it completely solves my desktop space issues when I'm working with multiple programs, multiple websites and multiple applications. I like the easy widget feature, too.
Cons
When I have it set to run automatically on start up, it freezes my computer terribly. I have to go into DOS to solve the problem. Now that I have it set so I have to run it manually, everything is dandy.
Summary
This is going to be an amazing product when the system-crashing bugs are fixed. Even as is, I'm keeping it! I'm looking forward to the next update!

"Good Beta Product..."
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
I like the panoramic desktop, the idea of dropping in widgets at will, and they have provided a simple and effective panaoramic view/widget manager.
Cons
My icons did not move when I panned the panoramic view, nor could I get the widget I added to move at all.
Summary
I would use this, when it goes final. The capabiliies has good utility I believe.

"Crashed my machine"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
I imaging that you could eventually create some beautiful backgrounds, if they ever provide that functionality.
Cons
It crashed my computer, and caused a continuous cycle of explorer.exe crashes. Also, there only a few poor quality backgrounds to choose from.
Summary
I might try installing the software again if it moves out of beta (it's currently more like a pre-alpha). But there are numerous reports of this software crashing the explorer.exe process, and then reports that the "desktop needs to be restarted".
When can we expect a new version which fixes the bugs? The latest version is 0.6.0 which was released on the 25th of July 2008 - almost 3 months ago!

Can anyone say vaporware? -
"Good idea,"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
Good idea, Works nice on single monitor
Cons
Horrible on dual monitor.
Summary
For single monitor users its a nice desktop enchantment. But for dual monitor, complete useless as your whole desktop gets ***ed up.

"Didn't work for me"
Version: 360desktop public beta
Pros
Great concept, if you like fee for service products. The company is paid by advertisements sent to you, read the TOS
Cons
I didn't work, you're signing up for advertisements. Said I was missing a device, but everything was working.
Summary
It didn't work.
