Facebook
The last major update finally brought the Facebook app on par with the rest of the offerings for iOS. Browsing through photos, videos, and friends' statuses feels like scrolling through a digital newspaper. The new main page feels almost native on the iPad. The ability to share pictures, check in, and keepi tabs on your friends directly on the tablet make this app a must have for anyone with a Facebook account. Read full review

Google+
Clean and intuitive, Google+ may not be as popular as rival Facebook, but the app does make a convincing argument to switch. Whereas Facebook opted for a newspaper-like interface, Google+ has steered itself toward tiles. Google Circle updates come in individual tiles that constantly refresh as you scroll. Previews of photos, videos, and even comments are displayed on each square. The options to share texts, photos, and links or "check in" are all available. You can even invite friends to a Google Hangout, an on-demand Google+ chat room. Read full review
