E-mail

There hasn't been an actual contender to Apple's standard e-mail client, at least until now. Google's buyout of Sparrow, could mean the first major change in the way people check mail since the first iPhone.

While the standard iPhone e-mail client is still doing a decent job, Apple hasn't made any significant updates in a long time. The result is that users are left with an aging e-mail app. This is where Google's Gmail app stepped in to fill the void. Allowing up to five Gmail accounts (yes, you can only check Gmail here), Gmail features a notifications center that will send an alert when you have received new mail.

The new interface is reminiscent of Sparrow, with its easy to navigate menu and buttons. The ability to send attachments, read threaded conversations, and search through all of your inboxes fairly quickly makes this a no-brainer when it comes to a mobile e-mail client.

tl;dr: If you have any other e-mail, use the standard iPhone app, if you only use Gmail, use this app.
