MalwareBytes runs a lot like Spybot - Search & Destroy, but with a more accurate and comprehensively updated definitions file. The scans run quickly and removal/quarantine is simple. It's a must-have security app for any Download.com crew member. -

Prey is free, open-source, anti-theft software designed to help retrieve stolen laptops. It's hard to review the value of such software until, you know, your laptop gets stolen and you need to get it back.
