Security Toolbar
The security toolbar in AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition disappointingly hogs up browser real estate and offers little functionality apart from a generic Yahoo search bar and buttons that lead back to AVG-marketed pages. A single toolbar button with a drop-down list of options would be a better application of space. Still, the toolbar enables the useful search results scanning function (called Safe Search), a redeeming factor. While you mostly don't see it, the security bar also checks sites you visit against a local, frequently updated blacklist to ensure the sites you visit are safe.
