Using AVG Free Edition 8.0

AVG Anti-Virus-Free-Edition 8.0 has a much cleaner, more intuitive interface than its predecessors. The Overview tab (see Slide 1) shows you each of the security modules, like the antivirus and antispyware engines. Click into each to view a description and status. Some modules, like the e-mail scanner (shown left) and link scanner, display additional configuration settings.
While the modules offer very good protection, the premium AVG applications are more comprehensive and include root-kit protection and automatic scans of file downloads, IM links, and Web sites you surf.
