Anyone who uses the Web for a while knows that login information starts to pile up quickly. With online e-mail accounts, login information for online banking, and countless forums, most users start to use the same passwords for everything. It's pretty easy to see how this is a bad security practice.

Fortunately, you can download 1Password, which remembers all your passwords so you don't have to. Simply come up with a secure master password and then train 1Password to log in to sites for you. It integrates seamlessly with Apple's Mac OS X Keychain and generates complex passwords for you, making it impossible for anyone to crack your code. What's more, you can use 1Password's Go Fill option to automatically login to your favorite sites (think of it as super secure bookmarks) to get you where you want to be quickly.

You can organize your software licenses all in one section, and you can access 1Password from other computers, as well as sync it with your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad--and the app can now integrate closely with the free Dropbox service, for "syncing to the cloud." An easy-to-use Sync Conflict Resolver helps you manage differences in data between multiple devices. Overall, if you have a lot of logins for several Web sites, 1Password is the best software available to keep your logins secure without having to remember tons of passwords.

"Great software even better company"

February 12, 2011  |  By bostonguy3737

 |  Version: 1Password 3.5.4

Pros

An invaluable product the syncs over all the devices I need and keeps my personal info safe and secure.

Cons

there are no cons

Summary

All I can say is 1Password is a must have application for me on my Mac & iPhone. It really is an invaluable part of my daily work flow. I have to say also that the guys/gals at Agile have provided me with by far the best customer service I have ever experienced from a software company. These guys just get it, and understand the software they provide handles your most sensitive data. They treat it as though it's there own and show the vested interest in there product you wish more companies showed. This isn't a fluff piece it's just fact based on my personal experience with them. Now 1Password is on my wifes Mac and iPhone along with my daughters iPod touch and iPad.

Pros

Great at remembering and generating passwords! Tech Support is excellent. The name says it all. You only need to remember one password. I find its autofill ability better than that of Safari.

Cons

None. It's worth every penny.

  • Added support for HTTP Basic Authentication windows for Firefox 4 betas.
  • Now auto-locking when screen is locked via keychain access, the same as when locking due to screen saver activation.
  • When adding a new attachment with the same as an existing attachment, there is now an option to auto rename and add.
  • Added "Never Display in Browser" setting to Identities and Wallet Items. This allows you to hide items (i.e. an expired/cancelled card) without needing to delete it.
  • Adding "Password Strength" to search options to make it possible to create "Weak Logins" smart folder, etc.
  • Editing Login passwords will now update its Password History to include the old password.
  • Now also quitting 1Password when the main window is closed.
  • Improved accessibility support for voice over.
  • Improved Preferences > Browsers > Remove/Install All Extensions feature.
  • Now always showing identities and credit cards in a submenu within the browser.
  • Improved reliability of data file backup by using the default location if backup path does not exist.
  • Improved item selection after the current item was deleted.
  • No longer showing item counts for smart folders that search full item contents. This avoids slow unlocking from needing to decrypt every item.
  • Improved Import Assistant to show if the imported item already exists, if it is different, and if it is newer or older.
  • Diagnostics Report now verifies that the Scripting Addition and versioned browser extensions files match the manifest file.
  • Now always showing "Other Logins" in submenu. Including other logins in hot-key menu.
  • Updated thumbnail downloader to turn off default cookie operations and prevent fetching previews from sites with bad certificates.
  • Enabled hover-copy for all values in "All Fields" table, not just password values.
  • Changed "Firefox" to "Minefield" for Minefield import instructions and added helpful instructions to Firefox import.

  • Fixed problem where a fresh install of 1Password would not open properly on first launch when using Dropbox. Before this fix you would need to reopen 1Password to see your data.

  • Fixed layout conflict with StumbleUpon Firefox plugin.
  • Updated Diagnostics Report to address issues in the "Installation Verification" section.
  • Fixed problem running CSV/Delimited Text importer.
