Though this Spades game is full-featured and technically free, you'll have to tolerate some semi-invasive behavior to play. 100% Free Spades Card Game comes with a toolbar from the developer, and if you don't agree to install it, you won't be able to run the program.
If that weren't enough, the installer places a shortcut on your desktop without your permission. The game's cartoon graphics are amusing enough, and you can play against your PC or against human opponents, either on your LAN or on GameSpy lobby servers. The help menu provides immediate access to online tournaments and leagues. The computer players differ by skill, memory, predictability, aggressiveness, and even taunts. You can customize the decks and table style, but otherwise the interface stays the same. The available Spades variants include Partnership, Cutthroat, Suicide, Mirror, 3-Player Cut, and Navy Teams.
You can choose options such as game conventions, speed, scoring rules, penalties, bonuses, and even the tone of players' remarks. To brush up on rules and strategy, use the tutorial and auto hints. If you're playing as a beginner, you can always take back a play or throw a pie at your opponent. On most counts, we like this game, but as is always the case, we wish the bundled software would vanish.

Version: 100% Free Spades Card Game for Windows 7.30
"As a beginner program it does just fine."
Pros: It basically does everything you would do in a Spades Games .
Cons: The computer players for some reason want to hold on to the Spades suite way too long inviting a lot of unnecessary "Sets" by your opponents.
